Using dynamic content
Drop live event data — names, dates, countdowns, hosts — into Custom Code blocks with Handlebars expressions, so your page stays accurate when details change.
What dynamic content does for you
Dynamic content lets you pull live event data straight into your Custom Code blocks. Instead of typing your event name or date by hand, you write a short expression like {{eventName}} or {{formatDate event.date "long"}}, and Rendezvous fills in the real value the moment your page loads.
The payoff: your custom sections look after themselves. Change your event date, venue, or name in the dashboard, and every expression on the page updates to match. You never have to hunt down hard-coded text again.
These expressions use Handlebars syntax — anything wrapped in double curly braces, like {{eventName}}. They work anywhere in your HTML and inside Rendezvous section tags you place in a Custom Code block.
Variables: the simplest building block
A variable is the easiest expression to use. Wrap a name in double curly braces, and Rendezvous swaps in the value.
| Expression | What you get |
|---|---|
{{eventName}} | Your event's display name |
{{event.date}} | The raw date in ISO format |
{{event.dateFormatted}} | The date, nicely formatted in the event's locale |
{{venueName}} | Your venue or location name |
{{venueAddress}} | The venue's street address |
{{countdownDays}} | Days remaining until the event |
{{countdownHours}} | Hours remaining (within the final day) |
{{event.description}} | Your event description |
{{event.hostFirstName}} | The first host's first name |
