RSVP isn't working
A guest can't find the RSVP form, can't submit a response, or is missing options like 'Maybe'. Here's how to get RSVPs flowing again.
A guest can't find the RSVP form, can't submit a response, or is missing options like 'Maybe'. Here's how to get RSVPs flowing again.
A guest opens your event page and gets stuck: they can't find where to RSVP, the form won't submit, or they're missing a response option like "Maybe". The good news is that almost every case comes down to one of a few causes, and each one is a quick fix from your dashboard.
Work through the causes below in order. The first two cover the vast majority of cases.
Guests tap their answer right on the page — but the response isn't locked in until they confirm who they are with a one-time email code. This is what links a response to a real person, so you always know exactly who's coming. A guest who taps an answer and then closes the tab before entering the code won't show up on your list yet.
Here's how confirming works on your event page:
Going, Maybe, or Can't make it — the three buttons are right there on the event page, no sign-in wall first. Tapping one carries their choice into the next step.
We ask for their email (or phone number) and send a one-time code (a short number) to confirm it's really them — no password to remember. Once they enter the code, we check them against your guest list and their answer is recorded automatically.
If a guest says "I tapped Going but I'm not on the list," ask them to finish the email confirmation step. The answer is only recorded once they've entered the code and been matched to your event.
If your event's visibility is set to Private (in Manage > Event Details, "Only invited guests can view"), the page stays locked to people who aren't on your guest list — even if they have the link. That's by design: it keeps private events private. If a guest signs in and isn't recognized, they won't see the RSVP form.
There's also a separate Invite-only RSVP toggle in RSVP Behavior: with it on, anyone can view a public page but only guests on your list see the RSVP button. So if guests can open the page but find no way to respond, check that toggle too.
Here's how to sort it out:
Go to Manage > Guest List and search for the guest. Match on the exact email they're signing in with.
If they aren't on the list, add them. Once they sign in with that email, they'll be recognized and the RSVP form will appear.
If you'd rather let anyone RSVP, go to Manage > Event Details and set visibility to Public (anyone with the link can view and respond), and make sure Invite-only RSVP is off in RSVP Behavior. Save, and the RSVP form opens up to a wider audience.
Every plan includes a guest cap, and plus-ones count toward it. On a public event, once you hit that cap the RSVP form is replaced with an "This event is full — Request to join" card. New guests can ask to join, but they can't RSVP directly until you make room.
Go to Manage > Guest List to see how many guests you have, then compare it to your plan's limit. Free events allow up to 25 guests, Standard up to 100, and Premium up to 200.
Approve the people you want from Manage > Join Requests, remove guests who aren't coming, or add a guest extension pack (+100 guests, on paid plans; the price is on the Plan page) from More > Event settings > Plan.
Your event page is built from sections, and any section — including RSVP — can be hidden. If you've hidden it while editing, guests won't see a place to respond.
Go to Manage > Page Builder for your event.
Scroll your section list and look for the RSVP section, then check its visibility toggle (the eye icon).
If the eye icon is crossed out, click it to show the section again, then save. Your guests will see the RSVP form on the live page.
If you set an RSVP deadline for your event, guests can't lock in a new Going or Maybe once that deadline is behind you — they'll see an "RSVPs closed" message. (Anyone already responded can still switch to Can't make it to cancel — backing out is always allowed.)
Open Event page → Details & access and look at RSVP Deadline in the Date & Time card. If a deadline is set and that time has passed, that's why new RSVPs are blocked — the form even adds a note under the field saying replies are closed right now. (The "Please respond by" line in your RSVP section shows this deadline once you've set one. The section's free-text Respond by date field is only text and never closes RSVPs — it shows only when no deadline is set.)
If the deadline was a mistake or you want to keep collecting responses, pick a later time (it has to be before the event starts) or press Clear deadline, then Save. RSVP reopens right away.
"Maybe" is an optional response. If your guests only see Going and Not going, it's likely switched off for your event.
Go to Manage > Event Details and find the RSVP Behavior section.
Switch on Allow 'Maybe' response and save. "Maybe" appears alongside Going and Can't Make It on your event page. (Turn it off and guests see just Going and Can't.)
If RSVP still isn't working, contact support with your event URL and a quick description of what the guest sees when they try to respond — a screenshot helps a lot. We'll get them in.
