Every event comes with a free address on Rendezvous — something like your-event.rendez.us. That works beautifully, but sometimes you want guests to land on an address that's all yours: ourwedding.com, summit2026.yourcompany.com, or any domain you already own. A custom domain makes your invite feel more personal and on-brand, and it's especially nice for sharing on printed invites or in an email signature.
Your .rendez.us address keeps working too, so nothing breaks for guests who already have the old link.
Open your event, then go to More → Event settings → Web address. This is your home base for everything address-related: your current .rendez.us URL, a downloadable QR code for it, and the Custom domain card where you'll add your own domain.
Connecting a domain takes three short steps inside Rendezvous — add it, set up your DNS records, and verify. We'll provision the security certificate (SSL) for you after that. The whole thing usually takes just a few minutes, though DNS changes can take longer to spread across the internet (more on that below).
On the Domain & URLs page, find the Custom domain card and select Add domain.
Type the domain you want to use (for example ourwedding.com or rsvp.yourcompany.com) and select Continue. You'll see a quick preview of the addresses that will point to your event, then Rendezvous saves the domain with a Pending DNS status.
Next, Rendezvous shows you the exact DNS records to create at your domain provider. Pick your provider from the list (Cloudflare, GoDaddy, Namecheap, Google Domains, Amazon Route 53, or a generic option) and you'll get instructions tailored to that provider.
What records you'll see depends on your domain type:
ourwedding.com needs two records — an A record for the root and a CNAME record for www, so both ourwedding.com and www.ourwedding.com reach your event.rsvp.yourcompany.com needs just one CNAME record.Use the values shown on screen — they're filled in for your specific domain, and you can copy each one (or Copy all) with a single click.
| Domain type | Type | Name | Value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full domain (root) | A | @ | the server IP shown on screen |
| Full domain (www) | CNAME | www | the CNAME target shown on screen |
| Subdomain | CNAME | your subdomain (e.g. rsvp) | the CNAME target shown on screen |
Then, over at your domain provider:
Once your records are in place, come back to Rendezvous and select Verify DNS now (or the verify action next to a Pending domain in the list). We check that your records resolve to the right place.
Verifying can take a moment, so you can also select Verify later and come back when your DNS has had time to update.
After DNS is verified, no further action is needed from you. Your domain moves through these stages on its own:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Pending DNS | Domain added; waiting for your DNS records |
| DNS verified | Records found; SSL is about to start |
| SSL provisioning | Your security certificate is being generated |
| Active | Your domain is live and serving your event over HTTPS |
Once the status reads Active, your event is reachable at your custom domain — and your original .rendez.us link keeps working too.
DNS changes don't take effect the instant you save them. Here are the most common hiccups and how to clear them.
@ and a CNAME at www. A subdomain needs a single CNAME. Make sure you didn't add the wrong type.rsvp.yourcompany.com, the record name should be just rsvp — most providers add the rest of the domain for you automatically. This means your record resolved, but not to us. Recopy the value straight from the Custom domain card — the server IP for your A record, and the CNAME target for your www or subdomain record — and make sure there are no extra characters or a stray trailing dot.
If the status sits on SSL provisioning for more than about ten minutes:
If a domain ends up in a Failed state, you don't have to start over — select the Retry action next to it to re-check DNS and kick off provisioning again.
For a deeper walkthrough, see Troubleshooting: Custom domain isn't working.
Changed your mind, or set something up by mistake? On the Domain & URLs page, select the remove (trash) action next to the domain and confirm. The domain is released right away and your event falls back to its .rendez.us address. It's a good idea to also delete the matching DNS records at your provider to keep your DNS tidy.
You can connect up to three custom domains to a single event — handy if you own both ourwedding.com and smith-jones.com and want either one to reach the same page. Add each domain the same way, and verify each one's DNS records.
Copy the exact IP address and CNAME target shown in your Rendezvous dashboard. These can differ between environments, so don't reuse a value from an old guide or a screenshot — copy what's on your screen right now.
