Understanding guest status
Follow each guest from Added to RSVP'd, see what every status means on your Guest List, and learn how to nudge the right people at the right time.
Why guest status matters
Every guest on your event moves through a few simple stages, from the moment you add them to the moment they tell you they're coming. Once you can read these stages at a glance, you'll always know who still needs a nudge, who's confirmed, and exactly what your headcount looks like.
You'll find all of this on your Guest List. Go to your event dashboard and select Guests → Guest list.
The guest lifecycle
1. Added
The guest is on your list but hasn't been contacted yet. This is where everyone starts when you add them by hand or import a CSV.
At this stage:
- No invitation has gone out yet.
- The guest doesn't know about the event through Rendezvous.
- On the Guest List, you'll see an Email not sent yet marker next to their name.
When guests are sitting in this state, your Guest List shows a banner at the top: "X guests not yet invited." Select Invite guests to reach them by email.
2. Invited
You've sent the guest an invitation by email or SMS. Rendezvous records the moment the invite goes out, and the guest's marker changes to Email sent.
At this stage:
- The invitation is on its way. Sent doesn't mean read: the guest may not have opened it yet.
- They haven't RSVP'd, so their status is still No reply yet.
When you have invited guests who haven't responded, you'll see a second banner: "X guests awaiting response." Select Send Reminder to give them a friendly nudge.
3. Responded (RSVP'd)
The guest has answered. Their RSVP is one of three things:
- Going — they're coming, and they hold a place. (If your event has a guest limit with a waitlist, or you approve each reply yourself, a "yes" doesn't always come with a place yet — see A yes that doesn't hold a place yet below.)
- Maybe — they're interested but not committed. This option appears only if you've turned it on in your RSVP settings.
- Can't go — they've declined.
Each guest shows a single coloured status pill on the Guest List so you can scan the room in seconds.
